I'VE POUNDED THIS ISSUE OVER AND OVER AND NOW IT'S GOING VIRAL ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND NEWS ... OBAMA'S 'OPENNESS' AND 'TRANSPARENCY' HAVE BEEN A SHAM!

"Oh, really? Heh, heh, heh! ... He (Obama) was for a lot of things during the campaign." - Nancy Pelosi

Pelosi smirks and chuckles about Obama's "campaign promises"

Remember Obama Promised Public Negotiations on C-SPAN - again and again?

EIGHT TIMES Obama Vowed to Have Public Negotiations ... He LIED!

While Innocents Sleep, They Creep in the Darkness to Drain Their Life-Blood!

Can these people show any more contempt for the American people?

They are so drunk with power nothing matters to them ... much less the truth!

This will not stand! Not in America!

By the way!

Have you noticed how many DemocRats are abandoning their sinking ship? Their constituents are furious and they are seeing the writing on the wall in 2010: Dodd, Ritter, Baird, Tanner, Moore, Gordon, Griffith, Dorgan!

No matter how lucrative their new jobs, no matter how much money they make, they will still have to live with what they've done.

They think time will separate them from the damage they've done. They have a lot to learn.

10:43 am - don't you feel safer now?

ON THE 12TH DAY OF CHRISTMAS ...
THE PRESIDENT DID PROMISE SWIFT ACTION, DIDN'T HE?

Yep!

Hillary Clinton has hit the floor running and sprung into action after Obama's tongue-lashing concerning the "screw-up" that allowed a terrorist to attempt to blow up a Delta Airbus with nearly 300 people aboard with no passport, no luggage, al Qaeda ties, and a one-way ticket to Detroit paid for in cash.

The State Department has just revoked the Undie-bomber's visa!

Will undie-bomber be put on no-fly list next?

Meanwhile, 76-year old Joan Rivers was throw off a flight because her late husband Edgar had a "suspicious" name (Rosenberg) and celebrated Iraq War photographer and reporter was arrested and handcuffed at an airport for ... well, doing nothing.

Feeling better about our security system now?

Can this government appear any more inept?

Well, the manager, Vale, assured us that the 15-20 employees at the hotel would be paid...eventually ~newscaster

also be sure to mention that the video doesn't even do this shit justice, they not only pay workers late but there is no money in the payroll account, they intimidate people out of trying to collect wages, and they have no worker's comp insurance so people are working in hazardous conditions. oh and they're using child labor- the manager's 14 year old son is working in the restaurant under the table. oh and they misreport wages and tax info to the government. ~[info]hildeaux

01:46 pm - So much awesome
Comic book artist Cliff Chiang re-created these classic 80s LP covers featuring comic book characters. I hope continues to add more covers to this series. I love them :)

“Dear Batman: We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in Bat-detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you’re crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us: in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is an archer, and a speedster, and a swimmer, a princess, and an acrobat. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Teen Titans.”

Thank you, John Hughes. Rest in peace.

01:35 pm - The Dangerous Plan
"What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself." -- Abraham H. Maslow

"Knowing others is wisdom; knowing the self is enlightenment." -- Tao Te Ching

"The true profession of man is to find his way to himself." -- Hermann Hesse

Last night we had the infamous Indonesian Rack of Lamb from the Tiki Room's menu. It was sent along with me as a gift for my birthday. I broke out a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rose I was given for my birthday as well. I thought it would go well with the spicy pineapple and peanut sauces. I was right.

The food in 2010 has been superb. I hope that's a trend that sticks around.

And thus fades the final tendril of holiday magic.

It's award season in Hollywood. This year it's hitting me particularly hard and reminding me of all the nothing I am doing as a creative at the moment. But I did declare this the Year Of Living Dangerously. There is no room for moping. It's time for new headshots. I have work to do in the gym (toning as opposed to weight loss). And the networking has begun.

I expect to be performing/working by March at the latest.

01:28 pm - German Goals for 2010?
Hallo zusammen!

I posted about this at the start of last year. I was wondering if anyone in here has set any goals or made any New Year's resolutions with their German studies or projects or simple deutsche enthusiasms? Any travel plans, or plans you want to achieve?

Last year I embarked on a German writing project in my blog, and I improved my German quite a bit. This year I'm writing a predetermined number of entries in my journal like last year, but I'm also including a lot of entries about German grammar and vocabulary. I am also determined to return to Germany this year for another Sprachreise, something I was not able to do because of financial problems last year.

Feel free to add me. I always enjoy making neue Freunde! (Just in case you like to reden about different forms of past tense, or which German industrial band is the best!)

03:38 pm - A question?
Unfortunately I have no photos for this post.I haven't made any bentos in awhile because my work schedule hasn't aloud me to have time for one on lunch. So I was thinking last night that the only time I would have the time to make one and enjoy eating it without rushing is if I were to make them for dinner at home once and awhile for myself and my boyfriend.(I guess I can say I'm kinda lucky because when I was telling him about bentos he seemed very interested and said If I made him one he'd eat it at work.I think it would be alot better for him than the buffet food he has.He works at a casino in the IT department and sits at a desk all day and all they have for the workers is a buffet. And it can't be healthy food.So maybe if I make it appetizing looking he'll want to take one to work everyday if I have time to make them.

I have been reading up on alot of bento recipes and most of them call for sake and mirin.I have never seen those ingredients used in american recipes. If I cant get a hold of either of them is there something I can substitute in the recipe?Or do you have to use those?

I have a full day at work on friday with a half hour break so maybe if I can get some shopping done Ill be able to make myself one for lunch. They've been cutting hours back so we only have short breaks recently.I was happpy when I saw that I had a full day this week.I also have to think of meals that are inexpensive to make so I don't go over our food budget.Does anyone have any inexpensive bento recipes? They'd be greatly appreciated!

I was told that the bento hobby is addicting. The person who told me this is absolutely correct!

06:41 pm - Out With The Old And In With The Even Older
"Be mindful of how you approach time. Watching the clock is not the same as watching the sun rise." -- Sophia Bedford-Pierce

"He who postpones the hour of living rightly is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses." -- Horace

New Year's Eve was an incredible night. I raced from Downtown Los Angeles to meet [info]__wolverine__ at Ivan Kane's Cafe Was in Hollywood for a multiple course meal and a very intimate night with Jeff Goldblum's jazz ensemble. For those not familiar with the venue, Cafe Was is a very tiny, European inspired bistro with a rotating piano at its heart. Every seat in the house on the main floor was a mere breath away from the action. It was both surreal and simply unforgettable. I found my mind disassociating many times because I couldn't believe I was there.

Dinner was fantastic and our server was very old school in his style. The food wasn't quite as mind blowing as anything Michael Mina produces but we were very satisfied. We even had some quail, which I haven't dined upon since I was a young adult spreading my culinary wings. Besides, Perrier Jouet makes everything taste magical, the ambiance was epic and our server added his own value.

The entertainment was world class. We sat among various other accomplished musicians, artists and friends of Ivan Kane's (who was there with his effervescent wife) listening to the sweet sounds of Jeff's band. I wish I could find the words to paint an image of what it was like but it's a memory I will hang like a pearl on a necklace along with others for the duration of my life. I can't think of any better way to end one year and begin the next. I hope it's a harbinger of things to come.

I ended up getting my birthday off. I had been resigned to the idea of working, though very cranky about it. So, the change of circumstance was like a gift. I didn't do anything at all, which might sound tragically lame. I sat at home with [info]__wolverine__ in my Hello Kitty pajamas and lounged. It was perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I had a few gifts to open. Everything was pink. Breakfast and dinner were taken care of for the day, along with my favorite kind of coffee. It was very serene, particularly since I didn't tell (remind) anyone about the date.

Intermingled with the bursts of wonderful have been the constant continuation of non-stop work and the starkly detailed high definition reality of what comprises my life. It's only the fourth day into 2010 and I'm ready to get apocalyptic on humanity. I've worked over time. I've been called into extra shifts. I see no relief in sight as yet but I have made my desires known and have started to move forward with extracting myself from that whole endless cycle of fruitless drudgery.

I lost my favorite hat in a car crash.

Image under cut )

I managed to save the feathers, but I have no idea where to go to find a purple felt pimp hat to replace it. The original was a gift, so I'm rather at a loss. Does anyone know where I could go that even might carry something like this?

10:07 am - Extra ticket

Five of us were going to see Frosty the Snow Manilow at the Falcon Theatre this Saturday, January 9th, at 4:00 p.m. One had to drop out so I have an extra ticket. Face value is $42.50. Row 6 center seats.

If someone would like to buy the extra ticket from me, please contact me through the private messaging system on LJ.

If you've never seen the Troubadors perform, you are in for a real treat and must be prepared to laugh like crazy. Singing, dancing, comedy... they are wonderful and always get rave reviews. I believe this run is sold out. The Troubies always do a story/music mash-up; prior Troubie shows I have seen include As U2 Like It (mixture of Shakespeare and the music of U2), and Oedipus the King, Mama (mixture of Oediupus Rex and the music of Elvis). The Falcon is a very nice, small theatre at 4252 Riverside Drive in Burbank, owned by Gary Marshall, with quality productions.

Hallo! Ich schreibe einen Brief an meiner zukünftige - und noch unbekannte - Gastfamilie, denn ich werde als AuPair arbeiten. Dieser Satz macht mir aber Schwierigkeiten:

"I also really enjoy - nerdy as it may sounds - to learn more about subjects that interest me."

"Es macht mir auch wirklich Spass - wie ?? das auch sein darf (?) - mehr zu lernen über (?) Sachen, die mich interessieren."

Wie man sieht, bin ich mir eigentlich gar nicht sicher über (ich weiss eigentlich auch nicht, ob die Präposition hier stimmt) den ganzen Satz. Also, könntet ihr helfen? Vielen Dank im Voraus!
